In August of 2018, one of the largest Hope Japan teams visited Mihara in the Hiroshima Prefecture. Much of Hiroshima was affected by torrential rain leading to flooding and landslides.
Mihara is a smaller community with little to no press coverage; due to this not many volunteers visited the area.
The team removed debris from homes and property, and took much of it to government designated dumping grounds.

Hokkaido
In September of 2018, a smaller Hope Japan team visited areas around Atsuma and Mukawa on the northern island of Hokkaido. The area was effected by an earthquake. Earthquakes are not a common occurrence in this part of Japan, so the government and residents were not adequately prepared.
The team worked with locals to remove debris from homes, and made connections to encourage other locals to volunteer.
